Our teachers work with children during the school day and foster an atmosphere of trust, love, and security. Your child will be involved in activities that will enrich their social, emotional, and physical growth. Teachers incorporate physical and mental awareness to assist the children with their daily activities, plan new activities and projects for them to do each day. They are mindful and aware of their safety at all times. Each classroom has a Lead Teacher who is in charge of the classroom and the curriculum. Lead Teachers must either have enough college credits along with experience or a Child Development Associates Degree to attain their position. They have a team consisting of a Teacher Assistant and a Teacher Aide. They work together to make sure the classroom runs smoothly all day long. Our teachers are CPR/First Aid certified every 2 years and are SIDS/AHT (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome/Acute Head Trauma) certified every year. They also have professional development classes throughout the year along with our Linkage health and safety training at the beginning of each new year.
Teachers work directly with children either facilitating learning during their playtime, organizing and implementing appropriate projects and crafts, leading large group time or sitting and talking with them during snacks and meals. Teachers follow the prescribed curriculum (Funshine Express) but also plan their own activities for the children to supplement what they are already learning. Teachers interact with the children’s parents and communicate daily about goals, accomplishments and things they are working on at school.. Goals and milestones are best achieved when teachers and parents work together at school and at home and keep open lines of communication. Our teachers use the Tadpole app to keep parents aware of feedings, naps, bathroom and diaper breaks as well as activities, themes and projects. They are able to send pictures and videos to parents throughout the day and at pick up time. Teachers also keep track of emotional, social, academic and physical progress through the use of assessments, reports and twice yearly parent-teacher conferences.
